ABOUT THE COACHES
Chuck Waddington
Angelo State Head Coach Chuck Waddington and the Angelo State Belles have put the volleyball nation on notice. Waddington, who will begin his 15th season as head coach in 2022, has guided the Belles to ten-straight NCAA South Central Regional Tournaments and a historic run to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2016. In that time, the Belles have won four regular-season LSC Titles and four LSC Tournament Championships. He’s been named the LSC Coach of the Year five times and has helped 20 players earn AVCA All-American status. He also guided Meghan Parker to the program's first AVCA National Freshman of the Year award. He owns a career 343-111 record as head coach of the Belles, good enough for a .756 winning percentage. He has accumulated 343 overall wins, 190 Lone Star Conference victories, 14 straight LSC Tournament appearances, and multiple All-Conference and All-Region performers. “I think we are progressing in the direction to be a national contender every year,” said Waddington, who is ASU’s fifth head coach since the program was started in 1976. “We are a program approaching the level where we will be competing for national championships year in and year out. We want to start moving up the national ladder and become a consistent program always in the top-10 and competing for that top spot.” |
Jacquie Cason
Northwest Missouri State Assistant Coach Jacquie Cason is set to begin her first season as an assistant coach for the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat volleyball team after serving the previous two years as a graduate assistant coach. Before Northwest, Cason spent one year at Eastern Illinois University and one year at Nicholls State University as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. She was involved with scouting, film preparation and analysis, coaching the offense and developing blocking schemes at both schools. Cason played collegiately at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where she played as a pin hitter. She served as team captain her senior season and totaled 100 or more kills in each season with the Miners. Cason amassed more than 250 hours of community service over her five-year career. She was a four-time Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll selection and a seven-time honoree on the Dean's List (3.5 GPA or higher). Tia Brandel-Wilhelm
Ferris State Head Coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm and the Ferris State University women's volleyball program are deeply intertwined as the Bulldog head coach embarks on her 26th year at the Bulldog helm in the 2021 campaign. She has also served previously as the department's Senior Women's Administrator at various times during her collegiate coaching career. Since becoming the program's fifth head coach in June 1996, Brandel-Wilhelm has resurrected the program by guiding the Bulldogs to 14 NCAA Division II National Tournament appearances, which includes 12 of the last 15 seasons. In the 2011 season, she directed the Bulldogs to the program's 10th GLIAC Championship and 16th NCAA Tournament berth as FSU posted a 27-4 overall record. The Bulldogs also were 18-1 in league action and earned runner-up honors while hosting the conference postseason tournament. Through her hard work and dedication, Brandel-Wilhelm continues to earn her place among the nation's most respected collegiate coaches. Faced with the task of rebuilding the Bulldogs' tradition-rich program in her first season, Brandel-Wilhelm proceeded to direct the Bulldogs to a 19-12 overall record and a top 25 national ranking. In the last 19 seasons, Brandel-Wilhelm has coached Ferris to an impressive 475-163 overall record (.745). She was voted as the GLIAC's Coach-of-the-Year for the sixth time in 2018 by her peers. Brandel-Wilhelm's resume demonstrates a penchant for winning. Prior to joining FSU, she served as head coach for three seasons (1993-95) at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, W. Va. Under Brandel-Wilhelm's tutelage, the Bobcats racked up a 118-20 overall record, captured three West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) and regional titles, made two NAIA national tournament appearances and placed fifth at the 1995 NCAA Division II Championships. |
